WHAT IS AN EMERGENCY HEALTH CARD? Plain and simple, an EMERGENCY HEALTH Card is a card you carry with you everywhere you go. If you are ever in an emergency situation and are unable to speak for yourself, your EMERGENCY HEALTH Card holds all the important information required by first responders to ensure your medical needs are properly and safely met. It also holds the contact details of the people you’ve selected to be notified – just as the card says - in case of emergency. The EMERGENCY HEALTH Card has been designed with the advice of first aid professionals, and with simplicity in mind. The words ‘IN CASE OF EMERGENCY’ are displayed in bright, bold text on the top right hand corner of the card along with the ISO symbol for First Aid. This makes it clearly visible and easy to find when a card is placed in the credit card section of a purse or wallet - and can leave no doubt what purpose it serves. WHO IS IT FOR? People with Special Medical Needs People with pre-existing medical conditions such as asthma, heart conditions, epilepsy, diabetes and severe allergies are at particular risk of requiring spontaneous medical assistance. Providing medical information to first responders could prevent incorrect diagnosis and expedite treatment. If you or a loved one suffers from any condition that puts you at particular risk, carrying an EMERGENCY HEALTH Card could make all the difference. Elderly People The elderly can be particularly vulnerable; senior citizens may suffer from chronic medical conditions, have a greater dependency on prescription medication and may even suffer pain and injury as the result of simple, routine activities. Our older population are more likely to need medical assistance and less likely to be able to speak for themselves in an emergency situation. An EMERGENCY HEALTH Card is a simple, cost effective and wise way for seniors to carry the information they need to help them stay protected. Young Children If your kids travel to school on their own, they are doing so during one of the busiest traffic times of the day. Until your kids arrive at school, they could be quite vulnerable. Smaller children don’t normally carry identification, so if they were ever in need of special medical or personal assistance carrying an EMERGENCY HEALTH Card could provide invaluable information in a timely manner. Off to school, or even out to play, don’t compromise your child’s well-being; send them off with an EMERGENCY HEALTH Card. College and University Students Living on a college or university campus means living with people who don’t know you very well – and away from family. Most universities have ‘In Case of Emergency’ procedures in place, recognizing the unique safety challenges that face new residents. Carrying emergency identification with appropriate medical details, parental contact and even roommate information just makes good sense. College comes with enough stress; an EMERGENCY HEALTH Card is something parents and students should consider when preparing for the big move. Commuters Imagine being on a train, bus or in the airport and suddenly finding yourself in need of medical assistance. What if you were unable to speak for yourself? Each day the news is inundated with stories of people injured, taken ill - or worse - during business related travel. Whether your daily trip to work includes long car journeys or grueling commutes on public transportation, carrying ‘in case of emergency’ details could provide vital information and ensure your loved ones are contacted in a timely manner. Don't travel without your EMERGENCY HEALTH Card. Holiday Makers If you become ill or injured while travelling abroad, you could be at particular risk. Carrying an EMERGENCY HEALTH Card on holiday is an easy way to provide necessary medical information and details of next of kin to first responders anywhere you go. The first aid symbol on the EMERGENCY HEALTH Card is internationally recognized. Create an EMERGENCY HEALTH Card that is ‘trip-specific’ – with information provided in the native language of the country you visit, with contact numbers using appropriate dialing codes. Attach your EMERGENCY HEALTH Card to your luggage or carry on and keep one with you at all times. Travel safe. Anyone, Everyone - Let’s face it; we’re all at risk of falling to injury or illness. It’s not the kind of thing you plan on, but it is the kind of thing you can plan for. Be prepared. Carry an In Case of Emergency card – and provide one to everyone you know and love. |
